TEAM TESTING IN JEREZ Team McLaren Mercedes will be back in -*test*-('")ing action this week at the Jerez circuit in Spain. The -*test*-('") takes place on Thursday and Friday of this week, with Kimi and Pedro present at both days. Both drivers will be piloting MP4-20s.

Test driver Pedro de la Rosa ended fas-*test*-('") with a best lap of 1m15.650s. While the Spaniard completed 130 laps Kimi Raikkonen added 70 and was 0.8s slower. It was a bright and sunny day at the circuit with air temperature hitting 28 degrees Centigrade. While McLaren worked on tyre and aero -*test*-('") Renault's Fernando Alonso continued to put miles on the team's engine upgrade which he will race for the first time in his home Grand Prix. Alonso finished third fas-*test*-('") after 98 laps and was joined again by -*test*-('") driver Franck Montagny who finished eighth and last. Toyota was in aciton with Olivier Panis and Ralf Schumacher. The German concentrated on running practice qualifying runs on heavy fuel loads which he hopes will help him improve his grid position in the coming races. The only other team in action was Red Bull with Coulthard finishing fourth and Liuzzi seventh. They compelted the most mileage of any team with 239 laps.

The programme for the two-day -*test*-('") was focused on preparing for the Spanish Grand Prix next weekend. Both Kimi and Pedro worked on tyre -*test*-('")ing with Michelin and durability runs. In addition various set-ups were evaluated as well as aerodynamic developments. Pedro's time of 1m15.650 puts him fas-*test*-('") overall and he completed 130 laps today. During the two days Pedro did a total of 269 laps or 1192 km with one engine. Kimi completed a total of 70 laps today and finished second overall with a time of 1m16.467. The week following the Spanish Grand Prix, the Team McLaren Mercedes team is scheduled to -*test*-('") at Paul Ricard in France from 11th-13th May. We have been -*test*-('")ing a number of developments in respect of aerodynamics and set-ups and it will be interesting to see how they work in a race weekend situation." Pedro de la Rosa "Our main focus for the past two days has been preparations and evaluations for the Grand Prix in my home country the weekend after next. We have done a lot of work considering we were only running two days when I did almost 1200 km and experienced no major problem."
